Wine and Green

We’re looking forward to a busy weekend for Kakao, starting with a Wine, Cheese and Chocolate event on Saturday and ending with a Green Living Expo on Sunday.

On Saturday, December 6, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., you’ll find Kakao at the Yellow Farmhouse Winery in Defiance for their complementary Wine, Cheese and Chocolate tasting. Linda and Dale are planning quite a spread, with artisan cheeses to pair with their Barbera, Norton and Chambourcin wines. And, of course, Kakao chocolates.

You’ll definitely want to try some of the two new wines they’ll release at the event: the “Drop Dead Red” Barbera, a rich, dry red with Italian roots, and “Cloudy Valley” Chardonnay, a buttery favorite. And note that this is the last event for the season for the Yellow Farmhouse — they’ll close on Sunday, December 14 until next April (when they’ll have their Big Barrel Tasting!).

On Sunday from 11:00 a.m. ’til 5:00 p.m., don’t miss the Green Living Expo at the Missouri History Museum. The museum has a special exhibit on George Washington Carver’s multifaceted legacy–including the use of environmentally conscious products.
(Which reminds me, I really need to start working on some chocolate-peanut butter confections!)

The event will have eco-friendly shopping, educational demonstrations, a screening of an extended version of the documentary King Corn, music and special tastings. Kakao Chocolate will be there with our all-natural, handmade chocolates, including gift boxes of truffles, gift baskets of chocolate (and our new Kakao Hot Chocolate Gift Baskets) and lots of other treats.

Of course we’ve got two more events before Christmas: the Tower Grove Market on December 13 and the Maplewood/Schlafly Market on December 20.
