Kakao Ice Cream and Sodas

Just in time for the heat of summer, we at Kakao have just the things to cool you off.

First, at Kakao Maplewood, we’re offering ice cream. No, not Kakao ice cream — Serendipity ice cream, made just down the street in Webster Groves. But we’re taking it to the next level by making all our own toppings for the best sundaes you’ll ever have.

(While that looks like chocolate syrup — which we certainly do have — that’s actually blackberry syrup, which is fantastic in its own right.)

We also have salted-burnt-caramel syrup, and bourbon pecans, and marshmallow fluff, and candied almonds with chocolate and sea salt, and peanut butter crunch, and, well, lots of sundae goodness.

We’re approaching the sundae toppings the same way we do our chocolate truffles: we’ll have some things all the time, and we’ll have other toppings that we make on a whim and offer for a limited time.

Speaking of, you’ll want to mark your calendars for the evening of Friday, June 8, when we’ll be having a VERY special ice cream-related event at the shop. Stay tuned for more of that.

Okay, okay, one more picture. But I really need to tell you about our other exciting new offering.

That’s salted-burnt-caramel sauce, with marshmallow fluff and bourbon pecans. Now, are you ready to move on?

Good, because this is equally as yummy and refreshing. We’re now offering natural hand-made sodas at Kakao on Jefferson.

This was not something I ever considered, or even thought about. Sodas come out of a bottle, right? But we’ve got a creative team and they think of all kinds of fun things and this was one of them — why not make really great syrups and add them to soda water and ice and serve them to hot, thirsty people who don’t want a lot of artificial colors or flavors in their refreshments?

So we did it.

Blueberry. Cherry-almond. Chocolate.

Yes, chocolate soda. Maybe not something you’ve thought of before, but something that you really need to try. Or go right for one of the other flavors. You’ll be glad you did.

Same all-natural approach. Same creativity. Same sky’s-the-limit attitude when it comes to flavors.

Oh, and be sure to plan to stop by this Saturday, May 12, when we’ll be giving away free samples of our sodas to everyone who stops by.

Kakao is selling ice cream sundaes (at Maplewood) and all-natural sodas (on Jefferson) as long as the summer lasts. Stop by and give them a try.
